eLink Survey

Your opinion is very important to us!

We are currently seeking feedback on Humber’s five eLink facilities. We want to know what you think of your eLink spaces and the work we have been doing to revitalize the spaces over the last three years.

 

The spaces in question include:

   • eLink-1 (H205 at North Campus)

   • eLink-2 (N205 at North Campus)

   • eLink-3 (LX109 at North Campus)

   • eLink-4 (A240 at Lakeshore Campus)

   • eLink-5 (FB102/3 at Lakeshore Campus)

Start Date/Time: Saturday, February 8th at 8:00PM

End Date/Time: Sunday, February 9th at 2:00AM

Affected Service(s): This urgent planned service interruption will only be a partial shutdown. It will affect services including Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, Banner Login, Corporate E-mail (Exchange), Corporate Webserver(www.humber.ca), H and I drive, Applied vCloud Environment, and Printing.

The list of services that will remain active during the service interruption include Wi-Fi, RezNet, VPN, Security Cameras, Phones, Internet, Building Automation, and login to on-site computers.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Starting: Monday, December 30th at 6:30AM

Ending: Monday, December 30th at 6:30PM

Affected Service(s): Blackboard Learn 9.1

Reason: Blackboard will be unavailable while a service pack is implemented.

Starting: Sunday, December 29th at 12:05AM

Ending: Sunday, December 29th at 11:55PM

Affected Service(s): Exchange E-Mail (Outlook, Outlook Web Access and Syncing to Mobile devices)

Reason: Exchange e-mail will be unavailable all day on Sunday, December 29th while a service pack is implemented. Any email received during this time will be queued for delivery once the service interruption is completed.

Starting: Saturday, November 16th at 6:00PM

Ending: Sunday, November 17th at 8:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, Banner, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason: Systems in the main data center will to be shutdown in order facilitate regular yearly maintenance work.

Starting: Saturday, October 26th at 6:00PM

Ending: Sunday, October 27th at 11:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, Banner, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason: To facilitate work on electrical systems that affect the Data Centre.

Planned Service Interruptions

As part of Information Technology Services’ on-going effort to renew our IT infrastructure, we will be replacing key parts of the network over the summer.  The work to replace this equipment requires a few IT maintenance outages that will happen overnight on weekends. 

The following four dates and times have been planned for this summer.

PLANNED SERVICE INTERRUPTION #1 (COMPLETED)

Starting: Saturday, June 22nd at 6:00PM 

Ending: Sunday, June 23rd at 8:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason: Systems in the main data center need to be shutdown in order facilitate work on the main server network.

PLANNED SERVICE INTERRUPTION #2 (COMPLETED)

Starting: Saturday, June 29th at 8:00PM 

Ending: Sunday, June 30th at 8:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason: The Core network in the main data center will be replaced and will affect connectivity to all services.

PLANNED SERVICE INTERRUPTION #3 (COMPLETED)

Starting: Saturday, July 6th at 8:00PM 

Ending: Sunday, July 7th at 12:00AM

Affected Services: All internal technology and information services at the North campus, including the Wi-Fi network and lab computers will be unavailable during the above window. External services such as Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, and websites will continue to function as normal.

Reason: The first half of the distribution network at North campus will be replaced and this will affect connectivity for clients inside the North campus.

PLANNED SERVICE INTERRUPTION #4

Starting: Saturday, July 13th at 6:00PM 

Ending: Sunday, July 14th at 8:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason: Systems in the main data center will to be shutdown in order facilitate regular yearly maintenance work.   This service interruption was originally advertised as a shorter window in order to facilitate a network upgrade, but it has since been expanded to include the yearly maintenance in the Data Centre.  This Data Centre maintenance window is scheduled every year on the same weekend.  Work on the internal network will still be completed within the maintenance window above.

UPDATE - Blackboard CE8

Information Technology Services worked through the night to restore services to Blackboard CE8. Early this morning services were fully restored to Blackboard CE8.

We will continue to monitor services.

There is a planned service interruption scheduled for May 4th.

Starting: Saturday, May 4th at 6:00PM

Ending: Sunday, May 5th at 10:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable during the above window including Blackboard, LIS/EIS, SRS, e-mail, websites, Wi-Fi network, and lab computers.

Reason:  Systems in the main data center need to be shutdown in order facilitate work over the weekend on the College’s backup power generator systems.  Although normal power will still be available in offices and labs, computers and associated system will not function during the shutdown window.

There is a planned service interruption schedule for Saturday, March 30th and 31st.

Starting: Saturday, March 30th at 8:00PM

Ending: Sunday, March 31st at 10:00AM

Affected Services: All technology and information services will be unavailable.

Reason: To help facilitate work on the College’s power systems
